I happened to see a detail in GOOGLE BOOKS in a German document from the 1830's which is available on-line called:
"Zeitschrift für geschichtliche Rechtswissenschaft" By Friedrich Karl von Savigny which mentions on Page 220 something about a margin note from a "Magister Johannes Coutham" donating a book to the Archbishop of Oxford.
